Everyone offered sympathy, but Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind delivered real help

After receiving the house keys, flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir said: Thank you, Maulana Madani, you felt our pain

Those who trade in hatred and dream of a Hindu nation should learn a lesson from Nepal: Maulana Arshad Madani

Kashmir is not only ours, Kashmiris are ours as well

A day will surely come when chains will be around the necks of the oppressors and the country will once again progress under the shade of love, harmony, and justice

New Delhi: 6 February 2026

Today, in the first phase in in Chenani town of Udhampur district, Jammu & Kashmir, while distributing the keys of 15 newly constructed houses to flood victims, including seven widowed women, the President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Maulana Arshad Madani, spoke about the devastation caused by the floods in Punjab, Himachal, and Jammu & Kashmir and said that we are servants of the Creator of the universe and submit to His will, as this is the essence of our faith. Only He can ultimately relieve every hardship. However, as part of practical efforts, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, its volunteers, and branches are assisting the affected people to the best of their ability.

He emphasized that disasters do not discriminate by religion — they do not ask who is Hindu and who is Muslim. When calamity strikes, it engulfs everyone alike. The victims include people of all faiths, and Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind is helping all without discrimination, because serving humanity is its fundamental mission.

After receiving the keys, the victims of flood said that many people came and offered words of consolation, but Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind actually took action. This was the collective emotions of the 15 flood-affected families who received newly built homes with the cooperation of Jamiat Ulama Rajasthan. Some became so emotional when asked about their feelings that they could not speak; tears of joy filled their eyes as they prayed that God grant Maulana Madani long life and good health. They said he truly understood their suffering.

After the distribution ceremony, Maulana Arshad Madani expressed deep concern over the current situation, particularly in Kashmir. He reiterated that Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has always maintained that Kashmir is an integral part of India, and therefore the Kashmiri people are part of us. Winning the hearts of the Kashmiris is essential. He stated that the collective character of a society cannot be judged by the actions of a handful of elements.

Referring to the situation following the Pahalgam incident, he said the compassion, solidarity, and brotherhood shown by the Kashmiri people are rare examples. In difficult times, they demonstrated unity and humanity, proving their commitment to peace. Expressing serious concern over recent incidents involving Muslims, particularly Kashmiri shawl sellers, in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, he said that targeting a specific community on the basis of hatred, questioning their identity, and attempting in some places to deprive them of employment and housing is blatant injustice and inhumane behaviour.

Maulana Madani added that sectarian forces dreaming of establishing a Hindu Rashtra should learn from Nepal’s history. But at the end, a Hindu state there eventually gave way to a democratic constitutional system. This demonstrates that in today’s world, genuine progress, stability, and prosperity depend on safeguarding democratic governance and constitutional values rather than imposing any single religion or ideology on the state.

He asserted that no conspiracy to transform the country into a Hindu Rashtra will succeed. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind will continue its struggle until its last breath to protect secularism and the Constitution of India. History shows, he said, that any nation wishing to preserve its identity, culture, and faith must be prepared to make sacrifices.

He expressed sorrow that a country for which their forefathers sacrificed their lives and wealth has become a centre of hatred and discrimination. According to him, extremist elements are openly active, provoking hostility against a particular community and hurting its religious sentiments, while law enforcement agencies appear silent and powerless, a situation dangerous for the nation’s future.

He argued that such thinking has not emerged on its own but has been deliberately cultivated to maintain power and secure electoral victories by creating an atmosphere of hatred. In the past, elections were fought over development, employment, and education, but now, he said with regret, sectarian forces have intoxicated the public with religious polarization, and elections are increasingly contested on communal lines.
