Flood in settlements

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind is a prominent Indian Muslim organization that engages in extensive relief and rehabilitation efforts for victims of natural disasters and communal violence, including providing financial aid, shelter, medical support, and distributing essential supplies like food and clothing. The organization has responded to events such as the Chennai floods in 2021, flash floods in Bihar in 2016, and the Turkey-Syria earthquake,Similarly, assistance to the victims of the terrible floods in Punjab and Kashmir in 2025 is also included. demonstrating a commitment to serving humanity in times of crisis.

Emergency Relief Efforts by Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind During the Punjab Floods

The recent floods in Punjab have brought about devastating destruction across eight districts, submerging over 1,600 villages, destroying thousands of acres of agricultural land, killing thousands of livestock, and tragically claiming the lives of more than 80 people.

In light of this humanitarian crisis, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, known for its unwavering commitment to standing with the oppressed and distressed, immediately launched relief operations under the guidance of its President, Hazrat Maulana Syed Arshad Madani.

From the very first day, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind mobilized its resources and volunteers to provide emergency support in all flood-affected areas. The relief efforts have included the distribution of:

  • Ration kits

  • Tarpaulins

  • Clothing

  • Clean drinking water

  • Mosquito nets

  • Essential medicines
     

In 8 villages, supplies have been delivered to 500 households, with each relief kit costing ₹2,500. Additionally: 15 quintals of animal fodder have been distributed ₹10,000 in cash assistance has been provided to affected individuals.
In another effort, 650 kits were distributed (cost per kit: ₹2,100) along with 2,000 water bottles to meet urgent drinking water needs.

Relief Work in Ferozepur – Hussainiwala District

In Ferozepur's Hussainiwala region, teams visited 10 flood-affected villages, where:

865 comprehensive relief kits were distributed. Each kit cost ₹3,150, and included ration, clothing, tarpaulin, medicines, as well as utensils 18 quintals of fodder were distributed for animals

₹15,000 in cash aid was given to elderly individuals, widows, and extremely distressed women.

Support at the Confluence of the Sutlej and Beas Rivers

At the critical area where the Sutlej and Beas rivers converge, a dedicated team of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind reached the affected population and:

Distributed 300 kits (cost per kit: ₹2,700)

Along with essential items, 50 households received a cot each (cost per cot: ₹750)

10 quintals of animal fodder were also distributed.

Support at the Confluence of the Sutlej and Beas Rivers

Large-Scale Dispatch to Jammu

In a major logistical operation, two 12-wheeler trucks loaded with relief materials were dispatched from Pathankot to Jammu, under the supervision of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. These trucks carried:

  • Rations

  • Tarpaulins

  • Utensils

  • Clothing

  • Medicines

And other essential supplies. The estimated value of these relief materials was approximately ₹1 million (₹10 lakhs).
