Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind gave Rs. 2 lakh to the families of each of the six killed in Haldwani police firing

  • NEW DELHI—Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (Arshad Madani) has disbursed a sum or Rs. 2 lakh to each of the six families who died in Haldwani, besides financial assistance to 13 others injured in police action on protesters against illegal demolition of mosque and madrasa in Malik ka Baghicha area of the town on February 8.

JUH also gave ration kits to 300 families.

The six killed in the police firing were identified as Muhammad Zahid, son of Noor Muhammad, Muhammad Anas, son of Muhammad Zahid, Muhammad Faheem, son of Muhammad Nasir, Muhammad Shaban, son of Laeeq Ahmed.

Strongly condemning the police action in Haldwani, Maulana Arshad Madani said that there is a long history of police cruelty and brutality, whether it is Maliyana or Hashimpura, Moradabad or Haldwani, the same face of the police is seen everywhere.

Although the role of the police is to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of the people, unfortunately, police deal with minorities and especially Muslims, like a party in a dispute.

Maulana Madani said that it should be remembered that the double standard of justice opens the way to unrest and destruction. Therefore, the rule of law should be the same for all, and no citizen should be discriminated on the basis of his religion, because neither the country’s constitution nor the law allows it.
